Thanks to all of you, and there were thousands, who contacted your Members of Congress asking them to sign the discharge petition to bring about a vote on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. Your combined action has gotten 199 House Members to sign the petition so far. We still need 19 more Members to sign the discharge petition in order to proceed to debate and a vote.

STATEMENT OF ARCHBISHOP CHARLES J. CHAPUT, O.F.M. CAP.  REGARDING FIRE AT CATHEDRAL OF NOTRE-DAME DE PARIS

“Throughout the day, I’ve monitored news reports regarding the fire overwhelming the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris with deep sadness and shock. For over 800 years, Notre-Dame has been one of the most iconic churches in Christendom—a testament to man’s desire to glorify God on earth and a beacon of hope for millions of pilgrims each year. The ongoing destruction being wrought by flames is doubly sorrowful as it comes during the holiest week of the Christian calendar.

I ask the clergy, religious, and lay faithful of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to join me in prayer to the Blessed Mother for the protection of fire personnel and first responders in Paris working to battle the blaze and provide for the safety of the community. We also pray that our Lord will bring comfort and peace to Archbishop Michael Aupetit as well as our brothers and sisters in the Archdiocese of Paris, and the people of France at this time. In the face of desolation and devastation, we find hope in the Resurrection.”

In his most recent column Archbishop Chaput writes, “The point is this: Proper funding for public schools is clearly important. But experience has already shown that this can’t be the only strategy because it doesn’t work for many of the students who most urgently need a good education. It’s therefore vital that our elected officials serve the education needs of the poor by also supporting school choice.

In recent years, thanks in large measure to bipartisan efforts spearheaded by Speaker of the House Mike Turzai, the Commonwealth’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) programs have made tens of millions of dollars available for school choice in education.  These special programs account for barely half of 1 percent of Pennsylvania’s total state and local spending on public education, but they’ve made a massive difference in the lives of tens of thousands of families.”

Our Teen Group meets for dinner and discussion from 5:00 – 6:00 PM and stays to assist with the Youth Group Meeting, students in grades 8 through 12 are encouraged to join us.  All are welcome!

Unplanned is the inspiring true story of one woman’s journey of transformation. AFA has screened Unplanned and strongly encourages you to go see this movie. You can watch the preview here.

All Abby Johnson ever wanted to do was help women. As one of the youngest Planned Parenthood clinic directors in the nation, she was involved in upwards of 22,000 abortions and counseled countless women about their reproductive choices. Her passion surrounding a woman’s right to choose even led her to become a spokesperson for Planned Parenthood, fighting to enact legislation for the cause she so deeply believed in.

Until the day she saw something that changed everything, a baby fighting for its life. This led Abby Johnson to join her former enemies at 40 Days For Life and become one of the most ardent pro-life speakers in America.

It is one of the most powerful films I’ve ever seen and especially having to do with the pro-life issue. Abby was a woman who was deeply involved in Planned Parenthood until God showed her the truth about this evil organization. She left Planned Parenthood and now speaks out on behalf of life. It’s a great story that I’m glad to recommend to you.

Because of the content and nature of the abortion industry, the MPAA has rated this move “R” and is not suitable for younger viewers. Scenes that expose the truth about abortion are difficult to watch, both the procedure itself and the bloody “normal recovery” for a woman who uses the RU486 abortion pill. Parents are advised to see it first and consider watching and discussing it with older children.

St. Frances Cabrini Parish will be hosting a clothing drive to benefit The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Saturday, April 6th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul will be using the services of GreenDrop to support their clothing drive. Look for the GreenDrop truck in the parish parking lot where an attendant will be available to assist you with your donations. Please place your donations of usable men’s, women’s and children’s clothing in plastic bags or boxes. Household items such as: kitchenware, games/toys, small appliances under 50 pounds, electronics, sporting goods, books, CDs & videos are also accepted.
