ATTENTION: FLEA MARKETS CANCELLED

The Saint Frances Cabrini Men’s Club has announced that, due to lack of participation, the flea markets scheduled for Saturday, May 4th, and Saturday, June 8th, have been cancelled.   As of today, there have been no requests for table reservations and, therefore, with no sellers, the flea markets are being cancelled.   We apologize for any   inconvenience.

A MESSAGE FROM The Pennsylvania Catholic Conference

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) specifically permits states to prohibit insurance providers that participate in the exchange from covering elective abortions. House Bill 818 clearly prohibits the taxpayer supported insurance plans from covering elective abortions.

Abortion coverage has long been prohibited in Pennsylvania’s Medicaid program (except in cases of rape, incest or to avert the death of the mother). Currently no tax dollars are used for elective abortions in Pennsylvania. HB 818 guarantees that the taxpayer supported plans in the federal government’s new health insurance exchange are in line with this long-standing policy.

HB 818 passed the House today with a vote of 144 to 53. It now heads to the Senate, where a vote is expected in the coming weeks. Your senator needs to hear from you TODAY- click on the link below!

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM The National Committee for a Human Life Amendment

April 22, 2013
Dear Friend,

Thanks to all those who sent in comments opposing the Obama Administration’s latest proposed regulations on the contraceptive/abortifacient/sterilization mandate. More than 56,000 messages were sent by persons responding to the NCHLA alert!

At this time it is vital that we re-dedicate our efforts to pass the Health Care Conscience Rights Act (H.R. 940). The U.S. House of Representatives again should be urged to include H.R. 940 in upcoming “must-pass” legislation.

Please click on the link below to send a message to your Representative today!    You will also be asked to send a message to Speaker John Boehner (R-OH).

Even if you have already contacted your Representative in support of H.R. 940, it is important that Members again hear of the need to pass this legislation.

The Administration’s contraceptive/abortifacient/sterilization mandate will begin to be enforced against nonprofit religious schools, charities and health care providers on August 1. In the days to come, Congress must decide whether to address this problem through must-pass legislation before that deadline. Please act today to protect conscience rights and religious liberty!

Thanks for all you do in support of life!

Sincerely,

Michael Taylor
Executive Director

A Message from THE NATIONAL COMMITTEE FOR A HUMAN LIFE AMENDMENT

March 12, 2013

Dear Friend,

The U.S. House of Representatives recently passed the Continuing Resolution, or CR, a bill that will fund the government for the rest of fiscal year 2013. Unfortunately, the House did not include the conscience protection language that we had requested.

I want to thank those who responded to our recent Action Alerts on this matter. Please be assured that the effort to pass conscience protection legislation will press forward. We anticipate that other “must-pass” bills will be debated by Congress as the year progresses. Also, on March 4, Rep. Diane Black (R-TN) introduced the Health Care Conscience Rights Act (H.R. 940). This measure contains the conscience protection language that we would like to see enacted into law as a way to correct the serious deficiencies in the Administration’s health care mandate.

We have updated our conscience protection message to Congress in the following ways:

  • All Members of Congress are asked to support the Health Care Conscience Rights Act and are urged to include the bill in “must-pass” legislation.
  • House Members also are asked to cosponsor H.R. 940.

Citizens from around the country will be able to send a message to the e-mail address that Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) has for those who live outside his home district.

Please click on the link below and send your messages to Congress today!

Again, some background on the issue of primary concern. Under the new health care law, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) requires most health plans to cover “preventive services for women,” including services that many citizens find objectionable for moral and religious reasons.  These objectionable services include sterilization, FDA-approved birth control (such as the IUD, Depo-Provera, ‘morning-after’ pills, and the abortion-inducing drug Ella), and “education and counseling” to promote these to all “women of reproductive capacity,” including minor girls.  The HHS mandate allows only a very narrow exemption for a “religious employer.” On February 1, HHS released a new “proposed rule” that goes into greater detail on the “accommodation” but continues to allow only a very narrow exemption, chiefly aimed at what it calls “houses of worship.”  Other religious organizations offering education, health care and charitable services to all in need do not qualify for the exemption. There is no exemption or delay for individuals, or for businesses owned and operated by individuals with moral or religious objections.

Thanks for all you do in support of life!
