For Greater Glory – Time Change, Reviews and Rating Information

We’d like to clarify the time for the October 27th Movie Night showing of “For Greater Glory.”    Doors will open at 7:00 and the film will begin at 7:30 PM.  Admission is FREE and so is the popcorn!  We hope you can join us.  For more information about the movie, please view the website at www.forgreaterglory.com and see the flyer in this weekend’s Parish bulletin.      This film is rated R and not recommended for very young children.  However, the subject matter is of a historical nature and very important in the current environment where our faith is constantly challenged.  It is suggested that parents read the movie reviews and rating information to assist in deciding whether or not to bring their older children.   For movie reviews and rating information, please click here.

A Night at the Movies

All parishioners are invited to attend a Night at the Movies on Saturday, October 27th at 7:00 PM in the Monsignor Woods Hall.   Admission is FREE.   The featured film will be “For Greater Glory” in which an impassioned group of men and women each make the decision to risk it all for family, faith and the very future of their country.   The film’s adventure unfolds against the long-hidden, true story of the 1920s Cristero War, a rebellion which arose out of the Mexican government’s persecution of the Catholic Church.   This 2012 drama film and historic epic stars Academy Award nominees Andy Garcia and Peter O’Toole.   For more information, see the Parish bulletin.

Joe Conklin Show a Great Success

Monsignor Woods Hall was full this past Saturday evening as over 300 people came to see Joe Conklin and Friends perform at Saint Frances Cabrini.  Those who attended were entertained by Joe’s legendary stand up routine, which included impressions of many local sports personalities including Charlie Manuel, Harry Kalas and Andy Reid.  All who attended had a wonderful time!

Our Parish Community Celebrates Mass for the Homebound

On Saturday, September 29th, our Parish celebrated a Mass during which the Sacrament of the Sick was administered to our homebound parishioners and other parishioners who requested the Sacrament of the Sick.  Many Homebound parishioners who were personally  invited, were able   to attend with the help of their family or other parishioners.   Over 40 parishioners were anointed with the blessed oil, and many others came to pray with them.   It was a beautiful gathering of the community, and all who attended were spiritually uplifted.  Following the Mass, there was a reception in the Monsignor Woods Hall which was provided by our Respect Life Committee and served by our children from our Parish Youth Group. Additional photos are available in the Photo Gallery on the Parish website.

The Sacrament of the Sick, being one of the seven Sacraments of the Church, gives the grace of the Holy Spirit to those who are sick. By this grace, the whole person is helped and saved, sustained by trust in God and strengthened in their weakness.

Blessing of the Animals

In honor of the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, we will have the Blessing of the Animals on Saturday, October 6th, at 12:00 Noon, on the front lawn of the Church.  Bring your pets!  All are welcome to attend.
