THE MEN’S PRAYER GROUP WILL MEET THIS SATURDAY AT 7:00 AM IN THE PARISH CENTER

Newly-Renovated Chapel

On Monday morning, Monsignor McCormac celebrated Mass with the Parish Staff in the newly-renovated Chapel in the Parish Center.  At the beginning of the Mass, he said that this First Mass in the newly-renovated Chapel would be offered for all the living and deceased Immaculate Heart of Mary Sisters who prayed in this Chapel from 1955 until the Sisters left the Parish in 1995.  He also included all the boys and young men and their supervisors who lived in the former convent during the time when Catholic Social Services leased the building as a Group Home for St. Francis-St. Joseph Homes for Children. He also included in the intention all the volunteers who worked in the former convent building in getting it ready as the Parish Center for the newly-merged Parish, and also all the individuals who in the future will be coming to the Chapel to pray before the Blessed Sacrament. With these intentions, those assembled remembered our past, our present and our future.

 Monsignor McCormac said that this was the first time in over 20 years that Mass was celebrated in the Chapel and it was the first time in over 50 years that Mass was celebrated at this particular altar which had been brought over from St. Joseph the Worker Church. At the conclusion of the Mass, Monsignor McCormac noted that this altar had been the altar of sacrifice since the founding of St. Joseph the Worker Parish until the Second Vatican Council. With the liturgical changes flowing from the Second Vatican Council, a new altar of sacrifice which faced the congregation replaced the original altar which faced the back wall of the church and upon which the tabernacle was located.

In addition to the altar, the other artifacts from the former St. Joseph the Worker Church include the crucifix, the tabernacle, the sanctuary lamp, the pulpit, the presider’s chair, the Blessed Mother statue as well as the Chapel doors. With much gratitude, the new Parish of St. Frances Cabrini received all these as a gift for the Chapel.

On Sunday morning, March 6^th during the 11:00 AM Mass, the Chapel will be the site for the Children’s Liturgy of the Word, and the St. Frances Cabrini Conference Room, located on the first floor of the Parish Center, will be the site for Little Church. Children in kindergarten to grade 2 will be invited to the Children’s Liturgy of the Word during the 11:00 AM Mass. Prior to the 11:00 AM Mass, parents are invited to bring their children between the ages of two and five to the Parish Center for Little Church before participating at the 11:00 AM Mass.

For the time being, as we develop a plan for the protection of Monstrance which will contain Blessed Sacrament in our new Chapel,  the Adoration Chapel at St. Joseph the Worker Convent will continue to be the site for daily adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

Tough Questions for Donald Trump

say questions remain for Donald Trump

Harrisburg, Pa. – CitizenLink, and its national alliance of nearly 40 state-based pro-family organizations, including the Pennsylvania Family Council, today released an open letter (read below) to presidential candidate Donald Trump calling on him to answer direct questions on his policy positions.

Paul Weber, president & CEO of CitizenLink, said, “Time is ticking, and we want Mr. Trump to clear up his contradictory record on issues Americans care about. We have invited Mr. Trump several times to join our Presidential Candidate Teleconference Series. He has yet to accept, and our constituents are left wondering.”

So far, Sens. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, and former Gov. Jeb Bush have participated in this teleconference series. Dr. Ben Carson is scheduled for later this month.

“With the recent passing of conservative Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, the issues of marriage, life, religious liberty and the centrality of the family require even more focus,” said Michael Geer, president & CEO of the Pennsylvania Family Council. “Mr. Trump’s public comments about nominating judges with the same temperament as his sister, Maryanne Trump Barry, who overturned the New Jersey Partial-Birth Abortion Ban, are particularly concerning to those who care about respect for human life.”

Mr. Trump:

We, the undersigned, represent millions of pro-family Americans who are dedicated to a nation where God is honored, religious freedom flourishes, families thrive and life is cherished. As a national alliance with nearly 40 state-based organizations, we have invited you to participate in our Presidential Teleconference Series to share your views on the issues important to values voters. We have interviewed most of the leading candidates, but after several attempts, we have not yet been able to schedule such a call with you. Therefore, we direct the following questions to you on policy issues important to our constituents:

1. After years of describing yourself as “pro-choice in every respect” — even supporting partial-birth abortion — you now say that you are pro-life. Your explanation for this change of position – that a baby who was nearly aborted ended up being a “superstar” – is confusing, particularly since you acknowledged that if the child had been “a loser,” your pro-abortion position probably wouldn’t have changed. Please explain this utilitarian view of the sanctity of human life. Do you consider life only worth protecting if it meets certain criteria, and, if so, what are those criteria?
2. How do you square your new position on life with your statements in 2015 supporting continued taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion seller?
3. The next president is expected to nominate two to four U.S. Supreme Court justices, beginning immediately with the vacancy caused by the passing of Justice Scalia. These nominations will likely decide critical issues such as abortion. You’ve recommended your sister, Maryanne Trump Barry, for the High Court. Yet, as a federal judge, she overturned the New Jersey Partial-Birth Abortion Ban, writing that it“burdened a woman’s constitutional right to obtain an abortion.” How can we trust you to nominate judges who will respect the constitutional limits on judicial power and uphold the sanctity of human life?
4. You claim to support religious freedom, yet a leading gay-activist organization calls you“one of the best, if not the best, pro-gay Republican candidates to ever run for the presidency” – particularly because of your “standout position” when it comes to legislation that forces Christian business owners – and others of faith – to either betray their conscience or lose their business. How do you reconcile these contradictory positions?
5. You have built your campaign on lifting the economic outlook of lower-income Americans, yet you built your fortune in part on gambling, which preys on those very people. How will you make America great when you’ve run businesses associated withincreased crime, bankruptcies, broken marriages and suicides?
6. The first casino in the nation to add a strip club was Trump Taj Mahal Casino in Atlantic City, which boasts of “36,000 square feet of adult entertainment.” What would you say to young girls and women who are concerned about a president who is directly connected with the exploitation of women?
7. As someone who claims to be a fiscal conservative, how do you justify your statements in support of a huge tax increase and government bailouts. Regarding the bank bailouts, you even stated: “I do agree with what they’re doing with the banks. Whether they fund them or nationalize them, it doesn’t matter, but you have to keep the banks going.” Perhaps most concerning of all is your continued admiration for single-payer, government-run healthcare systems. Please explain how this is consistent with the party of limited government?
8. One of your favorite campaign themes is that you are going to “run America” if elected. Considering our system of checks and balances, and especially in light of the last seven years of government by fiat, how will you demonstrate your respect for the U.S. Constitution and the limited power the Founding Fathers intended for the federal government in general, and the executive branch in particular?

Mr. Trump, we look forward to your response to these, and many other questions, affecting the lives of American families nationwide.
