On Easter Sunday, a terror attack took place in Lahore, Pakistan, targeting Christians celebrating the Resurrection of our Lord. On behalf of Archbishop Chaput, I’m sharing a link to a letter from Archbishop Joseph Kurtz, President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, to Archbishop Joseph Coutts, President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Pakistan (http://www.usccb.org/news/2016/16-037.cfm).

Please join with Archbishop Kurtz in pledging the prayerful support of the Church in the United States to our brothers and sisters who are suffering violence and murder because of their faith. Thank you.

Earlier this week, it was announced by the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) that Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. will be the principal celebrant of the Funeral Mass for Mother Mary Angelica, P.C.P.A., the network’s founder.

That Mass will be celebrated at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville, Alabama, on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Information about this Mass, including live streaming, can be found at http://www.ewtn.com/motherangelica/index.asp/.

Locally, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia will offer Mass for the Happy Repose of the Soul of Mother Mary Angelica. Reverend G. Dennis Gill, Rector of the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, will be the celebrant and homilist.

Mother Angelica, the Founder of Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN), was called home to the Lord on Easter Sunday at the age of 92. Archbishop Chaput has released a statement regarding her passing. The text is below.  Please join  in praying for the repose of Mother Angelica’s soul and for all those who mourn her loss.

Archbishop Chaput delivered a keynote address at a forum at Brigham Young University.
