ARCHBISHOP PÉREZ LETTER TO THE JEWISH COMMUNITY FOR ROSH HASHANAH AND YOM KIPPUR

LETTER FROM ARCHBISHOP NELSON J. PÉREZ
TO THE JEWISH COMMUNITY AS IT OBSERVES
ROSH HASHANAH AND YOM KIPPUR

Dear Friends in the Jewish Faith Community,

I write to extend warm greetings and prayerful best wishes as you prepare to celebrate the High Holy Days of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur in the coming weeks.

I am especially mindful of the tragic anniversary of the attacks by Hamas on October 7, 2023 and the ongoing conflict, including many hostages still being held.

These days of the new year present solemn opportunities for prayer and reflection on the past while looking to the future with joyful hope. Hope and joy are something we can all use, especially when so many are suffering around the globe due to war, famine, natural disasters, and political strife. I join with you and many throughout the world praying for a just and lasting peace in the Holy Land.

On behalf of the Catholic community in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, I pledge spiritual closeness and a remembrance in my prayers for you at this time. May the Almighty bless you abundantly with peace, good health, and fulfillment.

Shanah Tovah!

Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez, D.D.
Archbishop of Philadelphi

Dedication of Immaculate Conception Chapel at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary

Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez will bless and dedicate Immaculate Conception Chapel at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary’s new campus in Lower Gwynedd (Montgomery County) during the celebration of Mass on today, September 8 at 3:00 p.m.

All are invited to watch the event via livestream at vimeo.com/event/452376The Seminary will host an Open House for the general public on Sunday, October 13th with opportunities for campus tours.

Immaculate Conception Chapel will serve as the main chapel at the Seminary’s new campus. To preserve the history of the Overbrook campus, which was home to Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary from 1871 to 2024, altars, stained-glass windows, and pews were moved from the chapels at that location to the chapel at the new Lower Gwynedd campus.
