It was announced from the Vatican that Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of Cardinal Seán P. O’Malley, O.F.M. Cap. as Archbishop of Boston and appointed Bishop Richard G. Henning as the Archbishop-designate of that See. Archbishop Pérez has issued a statement on this occasion.
