Archbishop Pérez’s Letter to the Jewish Community on the Approach of Passover

Dear Friends in the Jewish Community,

Together with the bishops, priests, deacons, consecrated religious, and lay faithful of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, I send warm greetings as you prepare to celebrate Passover.

This great feast calls to mind the miracle of divine intervention in in an hour of darkness when the Father liberated the Jewish people from enslavement under the Pharaoh. It reminds us that the Father will liberate all of us and that He guides us on the pathway to true freedom.

Borrowing the words of Pope Francis, “May the Almighty bless and accompany the journey of the beloved Jewish People. May the Most High allow us to grow ever more in friendship and to be witnesses of peace and harmony.”

Please know of my prayers for you during these Holy Days and always.

Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez, D.D.

Archbishop of Philadelphia
