Ordination to the Priesthood–Saturday, May 20th

 

 

All are welcome to the Solemn Mass with the Rite of Ordination at the Cathedral Basilica on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Those being ordained by Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. are Rev. Mr. Matthew Brody and Rev. Mr. Brian Connolly.

 

Background on Rev. Mr. Matthew Brody

A native of Philadelphia, PA, Rev. Mr. Brody has been serving as deacon at Holy Innocents Parish in Philadelphia. He attended Bridal Path Elementary School (2003) in Lansdale, PA, Pennbrook Middle School (2006) in North Wales, North Penn High School (2009) in Lansdale, PA, and he earned his Bachelor of Arts (2013), Master of Divinity (2016) and his Master of Arts (2017) degrees from Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary. Father Brody will celebrate his First Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday, May 21st at 4:00 p.m. at Mary Mother of the Redeemer Parish Church in North Wales (Montgomery County).

 

Background on Rev. Mr. Brian Connolly
A native of Lafayette Hill, PA, Rev. Mr. Connolly has been serving as deacon at Saint Patrick’s Parish in Malvern, Chester County. He attended Saint Joseph Parish Elementary School (1990) Downingtown, PA, Bishop Shanahan High School (1994) Downingtown, and West Chester University (1994-1999) West Chester, PA, where he earned a Bachelor of Science. He received his Master of Divinity at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary. Father Connolly will celebrate his First Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday, May 21st at 3:00 p.m. at Saint Philip Neri Parish Church in Lafayette Hill (Montgomery County).

 

The newly ordained priests will be assigned, at the conclusion of the Ordination Mass, to an Archdiocesan parish where they will serve as parochial vicars. A parochial vicar is a priest appointed by the Archbishop to assist the pastor of a parish.
